Creative Fun at the National Motor Museum

Each August we run creative family activities in the National Motor Museum and at the Caravan and Motorhome Club's New Forest Centenary Site.

During summer 2017 families took part in drop-in activities, inspired by the museum’s two-year project Keep CALM and STEAM Ahead, supported by Arts Council England.

Sponsored by the Shell Heritage Art Collection and the Caravan and Motorhome Club, visitors took part in a variety of activities which explored magical mechanisms on the theme of Automotive Steampunk.

Children's creations from the Museum activities were entered into a competition to win a goody bag of prizes from Shell, Freedom to Go and the National Motor Museum, including a family ticket to the Beaulieu Fireworks Spectacular.

There were four competition categories which were won by:

Callum aged 6 (entry 152A) for the best Automotive Steampunk caravan design.

Emmelia aged 12 (entry 63B) for the best Automotive Steampunk Shell poster.

Harry aged 11 (entry 84B) for the best Automotive Steampunk Lego vehicle.

Oliver aged 8 (entry 115) for the favourite creation chosen by Beaulieu's Facebook page visitors.

The competition winners were awarded their prizes by Lady Montagu at a special ceremony in the National Motor Museum before the Fireworks Spectacular.
