Introduced for 1935, the Eight was the most successful pre‑war Morris car, helping to lift Morris Motors out of the Depression.

The short‑lived Series II version was announced in August 1937, with modifications including easy‑clean wheels and radiator shell finished in body colour. The catalogue claimed 'performance unrivalled in its class, with roominess, comfort and economy much above usual conceptions'. Around 221,500 were produced, before replacement by the more streamlined Series E model, with 4‑speed gearbox.

This car had one owner from new. It is the sliding‑head model, presented to show wartime blackout requirements, with headlight dimming masks and white painted fender.
