Golden Arrow

On Display

Following his record-breaking success with the 1000hp Sunbeam, Henry Segrave announced a new attempt was to be made in an all-new car. The Golden Arrow was designed by J.S. Irving and used a Napier Lion aero-engine of the Special 930bhp Schneider Trophy Type. The twelve cylinders were in a W formation. The car's low line design was achieved by the use of twin propeller shafts each side of the driver. Segrave drove Golden Arrow to a new record of 231.362mph/372.341kph at Daytona Beach Florida on 11 March 1929.
